Hoar Construction Accounting Manager / HPM in Birmingham, Alabama
The Accounting Manager assists the Leadership project teams, Client Owners, Contractors and Vendors on multiple levels. This position oversees activities related to the management of project cost and reporting on this information. This role is responsible for preparing Inter Company financial reports, compiling data with transparency in order to clearly communicate to multiple users, monthly owner billings and journal entries. In an external project related capacity, meeting with Client Owners to understand their needs for project cost accounting and creating processes and training for accounting and project teams to successfully achieve these project financial goals. In this role you may be required to travel up to 10% of the time.Responsibilities:Meet with project managers and client owners to design and establish customized external cost control processes. Communicate processes to owners and project team, train cost accountants and educate them on their new project. Work with the IT group to make sure reporting systems are serving the project team adequately. Oversee established processes throughout project duration, providing support and direction.Review and approve entry of client owner job costs in PMW project management software; including cost codes, budgets, budget revisions, contracts, change orders, purchase orders, cash flow projections, budget projections, pay applications, invoices, and monthly project reports & reconciliations.Prepare monthly owner billings for HPM projects to meet monthly deliverable deadlines in order to generate timely revenue for HPM services.Prepare financial reports and financial forecasts concerning company revenue and fee in relation to budgets accurately in a timely manner.Coordinate and provide support to project management processes, striving to link existing information and reporting requirements, involved in recommendations for procedural improvements such as training, streamlining processes, etc.Reports contract settlements to accounting immediately upon project completion. This involves preparing preliminary checklist for project managers and monitoring progress through to completion and close out. Verifying that these are moved to completed status on monthly volume fee report.
Oversee PM submission of Monthly Job Status Reports.Assist with special projects as requested.Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
5-7 years working with finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including generally accepted accounting principles preferably in the A/C/E industryKnowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.Proficient in MS OfficeAbility to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
